New Delhi:
A Delhi Police official's wife was gunned down by unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants this morning, said police, suspecting a case of personal enmity.
40-year-old Anita was shot at on Najafgarh Road in west Delhi's Bindapur area, around 7.15 am. The assailants then sped away.
The victim, wife of Delhi Police head constable Ombir Singh, was immediately taken to hospital where she succumbed.
According to the police, the victim was shot in her shoulder and she died due to excessive bleeding.
Later, the body was shifted to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital for post-mortem.
Anita was working as a ward assistant in the Army's RR Hospital.
"Prima-facie, it seems to be a case of personal enmity. A case of murder has been registered and investigation is underway," said an officer.
