New Delhi: Delhi Police will get 370 more Police Control Room (PCR) vehicles next week, said an officer on Wednesday.
"With the addition of 370 PCRs, the number of patrolling vans will go up to 1,000," a Delhi Police officer told IANS.
Delhi Police has 630 PCR vans, of which 150 are non-functional.
After the December 16 gang-rape of a young woman in the capital, the government sanctioned purchase of these new PCR vans to increase vigil on the capital's roads.
"All the vehicles are equipped with Global Positioning Remote Sensing (GPRS) system," the officer added.
The vans will be flagged off on Monday from India Gate.
