Cop Who Ordered Action on Veterans' Protest Among 35 Transferred in Delhi

New Delhi: In a major reshuffle, 35 senior officers of the Delhi Police, including an officer who had ordered the removal of Army veterans demanding One Rank One Pension scheme at Jantar Mantar ahead of Independence Day.

Among the Deputy Commissioners and Additional Deputy Commissioners transferred are DCP New Delhi and DCP Special Cell.

DCP New Delhi Vijay Singh had ordered the removal of Army veterans who were protesting at Jantar Mantar demanding pension reform. Mr Singh has been transferred to north-west Delhi and will be replaced by Additional DCP Jatin Narwal.

But sources say, the decision to transfer the officer had been taken before the incident.

DCP Special Cell Sanjeev Yadav, under whose tenure a Kashmiri man Liaqat Shah was arrested under charges that were later proved to be false, has been transferred.

In his place, Additional DCP Pramod Khushwaha, who was heading the investigations into the murder of Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Congress lawmaker Shashi Tharoor, has been promoted to the post of  DCP Special Cell.
