Delhi: Raped by hospital official, 27-year old commits suicide

New Delhi: A 59-year-old additional project director of a hospital was arrested by the police for raping a 27-year-old woman in Delhi. The woman, who was a temporary employee with the hospital, committed suicide on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, (south-west district), Anil Kumar Ojha said that the accused Nand Kishore had raped the woman, a widow, after promising her a permanent job at the hospital.

"The victim had lodged a complaint against Nand Kishore at Zafarpur Kalan police station and Kishore was arrested on Saturday after the victim hanged herself on Friday," he said.

The woman was a fourth grade temporary employee of Brahm Prakash Ayurvedic Charak Sansthan in Khera Dabur village in south-west Delhi where the accused works as additional project director.

"In March, the accused had promised the woman that he would make her a permanent employee at hospital and developed physical relations with her. When she realised that she was being cheated by the accused, she decided to approach the police. She got an FIR filed in the first week of May and a case was registered under section 376-D (Intercourse by any member of the management or staff of a hospital with any woman in that hospital) and 506 (threatening of dire consequence)," said the police.

On Friday at around 7:30 am, the police got a call from her neighbour that she had hanged herself.

"No suicide note was found on her. She is survived by her five-year-old son," the police said.
