New Delhi: The people of Delhi experienced the hottest day of this summer today with the mercury soaring to 42.6 degree Celsius but there could be some relief tomorrow as the city is likely to see rains or thundershowers.

Today's maximum was three degrees above normal for this season and up from yesterday's 40.8 degree Celsius. For the past couple of days, the mercury has been on an upward swing.

However, the minimum showed a decline to 27.4 degree Celsius, two degrees above normal, from 28.4 degrees.

There could be some relief from the searing heat tomorrow as the city may get rains or thundershowers accompanied by squall in some areas of the capital.

However, the temperature may not see big changes with the Weatherman predicting that the maximum may hover around 40 degree Celsius and minimum at 29 degrees.
