New Delhi:

A case was filed against Ramesh Chandra, the founder of real estate firm Unitech Ltd, as a Delhi police officer and an advocate were arrested in a case of bribery, reported news agency Press Trust of India. Unitech has been accused of cheating by home buyers. It has been ordered by the Supreme Court to compensate buyers who have been waiting for years to get possession of their flats.

Saket's station house officer Neeraj Kumar was allegedly involved in the Rs 2 lakh bribery case where he was asked to manage some court cases.

Officials said the court had referred 47 cases related to the firm to the Saket police station for investigation. The officials said it is alleged that the firm was making regular payments to the officer to "manage" these cases.

Today, the Central Bureau of Investigation carried out a raid and caught advocate Neeraj Walia allegedly paying Rs 2 lakh as bribe to Neeraj Kumar, officials said. The agency has registered a First Information Report today against nine accused -- eight individuals and the company.

Among those named in the FIR are promoter of Unitech Ramesh Chandra, Ajay Chandra, Upma Chandra, Seema Manga, Pradeep Kumar and another Delhi police official Sanjay Sharma.

On Friday, the top court had refused to grant "custodial parole" to Sanjay Chandra, who said he was finding it difficult to raise funds and comply with the court orders.

A bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra, Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice DY Chandrachud has ordered Unitech to raise and pay nearly Rs. 102 crore to home buyers, who have asked for a refund of their money.
