Delhi: Serial rapist arrested after seven-month-long investigation

New Delhi: After a seven-month-long investigation, the Delhi Police finally managed to arrest a serial rapist, a senior police officer said on Tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police P Karunakaran told mediapersons in Delhi that Azad Khan, 27, of Tughlakabad in south Delhi raped three minor girls. A police team was sent to Khan's native village in Bihar from where he was arrested last week.

Khan chose Tughlakabad forest to rape all the victims, whom he picked up on the pretext of giving some eatables or something else.

"The sexual assault cases were reported this year in June, September and December. In every case, he fled leaving the victims at the spot," said Karunakaran.

Khan, a labourer, was working in various factories of Tughlakabad and residing with his wife.

"After fulfilling legal formalities, he would be taken on remand to ascertain his involvement in other cases of assault on minor girls," said the officer.
