Delhi Shivers at 2.6 Degrees Celsius, Dense Fog Affects Air-Rail Traffic

New Delhi: As a severe cold wave sweeps Delhi, the minimum temperature in the national capital came down to 2.6 degrees celsius as of 5:30 am today, the lowest this season while the max temperature has stayed at 19 degrees celsius, according to the Meteorological Department.

Air and rail traffic were severely affected in Delhi as a massive blanket of fog has settled in. While 78 trains are running late due to low visibility, 20 others have been rescheduled. Rajdhani trains originating from Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Sealdah and Dibrugarh are among the ones running late. Shatabdi trains from Kalka and Lucknow have been rescheduled.

As of 10:30 am, foggy conditions at the Delhi airport resulted in 137 flights being delayed and 14 others cancelled. In the early morning hours, while the runway visibility was between 150 and 200 metres, the general visibility was below 50 metres.

Amritsar in Punjab recorded a minimum temperature of 3.8 degrees celsius and Agra's minimum temperature stood at 6.9 degrees celsius.
