The national capital opened on Tuesday on another bone-chilling note at 3.3 degrees Celsius, four notches below average, but the skies cleared later to provide some respite.

"We are praying that this chilly weather should end. Once the icy winds start, it gets difficult to breathe," said Gudiya, who lives near the Jama Masjid in Old Delhi.
According to the India Meteorological Department, cold winds will return in the evening.
Tuesday's maximum temperature is expected to be around 14 degrees Celsius.
Monday's minimum temperature was 2.4 degrees Celsius while the maximum was 13.4 degrees.
