New Delhi:
A Delhi teenager was shot dead and her mother was critically injured after they tried to stop a man from urinating outside their house, the police said on Thursday.
The incident happened on Wednesday in Hazrat Nizamuddin area of south Delhi after 17-year-old Yusra's mother noticed their neighbour urinating in front of their house and raised an objection.
Hearing the commotion, the girl, a Class XI student, also came outside her house and joined her mother. A heated argument followed. The neighbor left their place in a fit of rage, but returned later in the evening and allegedly opened fire at them.
While Yusra received two bullet injuries in her abdomen, her mother received one, the police said. The two were rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where the teenager was declared brought dead.
After the firing, Javed fled from the scene. A case of murder has been registered against him.
