New Delhi:
Delhi Congress legislator Vipin Sharma, 35, has claimed Rs 1.03 crore as medical reimbursement allocated to lawmakers in the capital, a reply to a Right to Information (RTI) query revealed.
This is the highest reimbursement claimed among the 43 MLAs whose details for medical expenses were furnished through the RTI reply.
The Delhi assembly has 70 MLAs.
The reimbursements are from 2008 till October 2013, said Subhash Agarwal, an RTI activist.
Mr Sharma is followed by Independent MLA Bharat Singh who ran up medical bills of Rs 25 lakh.
Bharatiya Janata Party legislator HS Balli, who recently joined the Congress, claimed Rs 17 lakh for his medical expenses.
Delhi lawmakers are entitled to free medical treatment or reimbursement and free accommodation in government-run hospitals.
They might be referred to hospitals empanelled or declared as such in accordance with the government rules.
