New Delhi:
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said on Wednesday that her government will build more night shelters for the homeless in Delhi if needed.
The statement comes after the Supreme Court directed the state government to take steps to set up night shelters in and around all government hospitals in the city to protect patients and their relatives from the biting cold.
A bench of Justices Dalveer Bhandari and Dipak Misra had said that this was necessary since poor people requiring specialised treatment came to Delhi from all over India.
The court also appreciated the efforts of the All India Institute if Medical Sciences in this regard.
More details are awaited on the course of action of the Delhi Government.
