Delhi: Tourism Department to Renovate 10 District Forums

New Delhi: Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) has been assigned the work of renovating 10 district forums across the national capital on a budget of rupees five crores by the Delhi government.

The Department of Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs has taken up the renovation of 10 district consumer forums in east,  north-east, west, north-west and south-west districts, Commissioner (F&S) S S Yadav said.

Besides this, the renovation of district forum south-I and south-II is already under progress through the Public Works Department.

The remaining district forums of New Delhi and Central district have already been renovated last year.

Mr Yadav further said that the Department has also sanctioned renovation of the State Commission at a cost of Rs 35 lakh.

The District forums and State Commission have been set up for the protection of interest of consumers and faster settlement of consumer disputes. The main objective of these forums is to provide speedy and simple redressal to consumer disputes and avoid consumers' exploitation.

Last year, 7752 cases were filed in the District Forums in Delhi and 8431 cases were disposed
