New Delhi:
A Delhi University student was allegedly kidnapped by a south Delhi based businessman and then molested and beaten up inside a car. However, after the girl raised hue and cry, he threw her out of the car.
The police said the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when the girl was standing outside the INA market. The accused Lokesh, who was known to her, approached her and by deceit made her sit in the car and sped off.
"The girl is a resident of Hauz Khas area, is pursuing B.com form DU's School of Open Learning and is also doing a computer course form NIIT in South Ex Part II. On Wednesday, after finishing her computer classes, she hired an auto rickshaw to INA market. There Lokesh (who is the brother of girl's friend at NIIT) met her and snatched her cell phone. When she asked him to return it, he told her he would give it back only if she sat inside his car. Once she sat inside, he locked the car and moved away from there," said a police official.
The accused then drove towards India Gate "As the girl raised alarm, he began to beat her. Frightened, she kept quiet. However, at a traffic signal near India Gate, she again started screaming and hitting the windowpanes of the car. Fearing that her screaming will catch attention of passers-by and he will be caught, he threw her out of the car and drove away. He also threw her cell phone on the road. The girl then made call to her family who reached the spot. Meanwhile, a bystander who had witnessed the whole incident and had seen her being thrown out of car, called the police," the official added.
Sources said that Lokesh and the girl had known each other for some time and he had tried to kidnap her after he came to know that she was getting married to someone else.
