New Delhi: Offering an opportunity to over 5,000 students to secure employment, Delhi University conducted a job fair for the students graduating in 2015.
"Three companies came to hire around 100 students during the first placement drive of the session. 35 students have successfully secured jobs for themselves," JM Khurana, Dean Students' Welfare, DU said.
The job profiles offered to these students include content writing, business development, nutritionist, customer care executive and academic coordinators. The average package offered to them is Rs 4.8 Lakh per annum, he added.
The visiting companies included - Litchi Knowledge Centre, Experts Intellectual Solutions Pvt Ltd and EXL Service.
DU's Central Placement Cell (CPC) conducts placement drives every year where students from various courses can register for the job openings offered by companies visiting the cell.
While various on-campus and off-campus colleges of the varsity conduct annual placement drives for their students, the job fairs at CPC are open to all undergraduate students irrespective of their courses.
"Online registrations for the placements began on September 18 this year. Over 5,000 students registered for the first placement drive. We plan to conduct a placement drive in December after the exams. Another one is likely to be held in January," Mr Khurana said.
1,200 students were placed during the various placement drives conducted by CPC last year. The biggest recruiters were Wipro, Housing.com, Oravel Travel, Freight Systems, Ingenious e-brain Solutions, Aon Hewitt, Medley Marketing and HT Studymate.
