Delhi Water Minister dared the Anti Corruption Bureau to arrest Sheila Dikshit in the water tanker scam
New Delhi:
Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra on Saturday dared the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) to arrest former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in the alleged water tanker scam.
He said if the former Delhi Chief Minister is arrested and interrogated thoroughly, then the whole case will unfold and the reason behind "Prime Minister Modi protecting Dikshit" will also become clear.
Mr Mishra wrote this in response to a new notice sent to him by the ACB regarding the scam.
He also accused the ACB of "malafide intentions" and said it is "working under pressure" to file another FIR against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
"In light of the recent case against Swati Maliwal, it is clear that the ACB is under pressure to file an FIR against Arvind Kejriwal and arrest him by any means," he said.
Mr Mishra said the ACB had again asked him the same questions in the latest notice received by him on Saturday which were asked when he visited the bureau office on July 4 this year.
"As a complainant, I want to say that even when I went to the ACB office, they asked me questions only about Arvind Kejriwal. Not a single question was asked about Sheila Dikshit, who is the main accused," he said.
"Even in the latest notice, they have asked me only about Kejriwal ji... What is the purpose of the same question when I answered the same verbally, and in writing, on my visit to the ACB office. It means that they have not worked on the case ever since then," Mishra added.
He had filed a complaint with Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung and Prime Minister Narendra Modi against Sheila Dikshit in the alleged Rs 400 crore water tanker scam.
Another complaint was later filed by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vijender Gupta with the ACB against Arvind Kejriwal "for causing delay and not cancelling the contract for water tankers" despite finding irregularities.
The Aam Aadmi Party government had in June 2015 set up a five-member fact-finding committee to probe the alleged irregularities in hiring 385 stainless steel water tankers by the Delhi Jal Board in 2012 during Sheila Dikshit's tenure as the Delhi Chief Minister.
