Delhi woman allegedly killed at friend's house

New Delhi: A 25-year-old woman was found dead at her friend's house in Okhla area of south-east Delhi on Tuesday. The cops are investigating if she was sexually assaulted before she was allegedly murdered.

Four young men, including the son of a councillor, were detained on Wednesday in connection with the case, a police official said, not wanting to be named.

Police received a call from an elderly woman that a young woman, who was her son's friend, had committed suicide.

Initial post-mortem reports the police received indicated that the woman had been smothered.

On receiving the report, police hunted down the caller's son, identified as Rahul. He was questioned till late Wednesday evening.

The deceased, a divorcee, had a child.

According to reports, Rahul had taken to visiting her two years ago - after her divorce - at her home in Tehkhand village in Okhla.

Neighbours said Rahul and a few of his friends entered the house the day the woman died.

A few months ago, Rahul had married another woman.

Sources said the victim allegedly turned up at Rahul's house on Tuesday with her child. There were arguments, and the woman was later found dead at Rahul's Okhla residence.

Among other men held for the crime is the son of the dead woman's landlord.

Senior police officers denied reports that the woman was raped. They however added that only a further medical examination would firmly rule out rape before murder.
