An auto owner was killed and seven others were injured in east Delhi when an autorickshaw turned turtle in the first fatal accident in the national capital this year.
The incident took place near Khichripur flyover at around 9 pm on Saturday and the deceased has been identified as Naseem, the owner of the autorickshaw.
Naseem and his family were going to East Delhi Mall from Kalindi Kunj when the driver of the autorickhaw lost control of the vehicle.
"The three-wheeler turned turtle and the owner Naseem died on the spot. Seven others of his family were injured," a senior police official said.
The driver, whose name is also Naseem, has been arrested and a case of rash and negligent driving and culpable homicide not amounting to murder has been registered against him.
The deceased Naseem resides in Welcome area of the capital.
The national capital did not record a fatal accident for a period of 24 hours ending 10 am yesterday. There was no fatal accident in the city on the New Year.
