Hundreds of BJP workers held a protest on the the Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) Flyway, demanding that the high-speed road be made toll-free.
Around 400 BJP activists gathered on the Flyway and blocked traffic for over an hour. They demanded that the toll collected for using the road be done away with, alleging that the operator of the flyway has made significant profits already.
The DND Flyway connects Delhi on the west bank of the Yamuna, with East Delhi and Noida on the rivers eastern banks.
It is operated by the Noida Toll Bridge Company Ltd (NTBCL), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) promoted by the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) and Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd (IL & FS). NTBCL operates the flyway on a Build Own Operate Transfer (BOOT) basis.
