New Delhi: A doctor tried to commit suicide by jumping off the hostel building at Lady Hardinge Medical College in Connaught Place of New Delhi Wednesday morning. Nasir Hussain (35), who hails from Karnataka, slipped into coma after receiving grievous injuries.
A senior police officer said the incident was reported around 8 am. "Nasir is pursuing post-graduation from the hospital. He practices at the hospital and has been living on the fourth floor of the hostel for the last few years," he said.
The hospital staff found Nasir lying in a pool of blood. "A PCR call was made at 8.15 am. A police team immediately reached the spot. The doctor was admitted in the hospital but was later transferred to AIIMS trauma centre after his condition deteriorated. He has severe head injuries and has slipped into coma," said the police officer.
No suicide note has been recovered. Police plan to speak to Nasir's colleagues to ascertain the reason behind his actions.
