A two-day drive-through vaccination camp for those aged 18-44 years is being organised at a mall in the national capital.
People can now drive to DLF Avenue Mall in South Delhi's Saket and get their jabs without getting out of their cars. The centre will function between 10 am to 4pm today and tomorrow, with 200 slots each.
Max Hospital has collaborated with DLF Avenue mall to organise out the two-day camp, charging Rs 1,100 per dose.
The vaccination process takes 15-20 minutes. After taking the jab, the beneficiaries are given a waiting period of 30 minutes in the parking lot.
Over 25 staff members of Max Hospital , including doctors, have been deployed in three booths set up at DLF Avenue mall.
Twenty three-year-old Antara Madhvan was among those to get vaccinated there today. "This was very convenient. We did not have to wait in queues for hours. This way we reduce exposure to the virus," she said.
Her mother, who drove the car, said: "We have heard so many cases where people went to a vaccination centre and turned positive few days later, possibly due to their exposure to the virus at the centre as all of them are so crowded. This facility ensures that my child gets vaccinated safely with absolute social distancing."
Another beneficiary, Abu Musa, wanted more such facilities.
The COVID-19 lockdown has, meanwhile, been extended by another week in the national capital.
Delhi on Saturday recorded 956 new cases, the lowest in over two months, and 122 more deaths from the infection while the positivity rate fell to 1.19 per cent from a high of 36 per cent in March, according to data shared by the health department.
