New Delhi: A Delhi Police constable was thrashed by some vegetable vendors in south-west Delhi when he asked them to leave for the day, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place in Palam area at around 11 pm on Monday when the constable was trying to drive vegetable vendors away from under the Palam flyover, a senior police official said.
"The vendors, including some women, complained the constable was drunk. Then they started assaulting him and locked him up inside a room," he said.
However, a case is yet to be registered in the matter, police said, adding that the constable was rushed to a nearby hospital where his medical examination confirmed that he was not under the influence of alcohol.
