Drunk policeman hits auto driver in Delhi

New Delhi: A drunk constable posted with special cell of Delhi police injured an auto-rickshaw driver after he hit his car into his three-wheeler on Wednesday night. The incident took place on Aruna Asaf Ali Road in Vasant Kunj area of south Delhi. The accused constable, Raj Kumar, has been arrested.

"The incident took place around 1.30 am when the victim, Salender Paswan, was driving a TSR towards Kishangarh. Seeing a police picket on Aruna Asaf Ali Road, Paswan slowed down his three-wheeler. The accused driver, Kumar, was in a Maruti Wagon R and driving behind Paswan," police informed.

According to police, Kumar hit Paswan's three-wheeler from behind and rammed into the barricades. Kumar was found to be drunk. He was immediately arrested and a case under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by endangering a person's safety) has been registered against him at Vasant Kunj (north) police station. Paswan, who had sustained minor injuries, was discharged from the hospital after first aid.

Kumar, a native of Bahadurgarh in Haryana, lives with his family at Hariom Apartments, Kishangarh, in Delhi and Paswan is a resident of Munirka.
