New Delhi: A 60-year-old man was killed by a municipal garbage pick-up van in a narrow lane in northwest Delhi's Adarsh Nagar area today.

The man, identified as Firoz Khan, was hit by the MCD garbage pick-up van when the driver was reversing the vehicle in one of the congested lanes of Adarsh Nagar around 1 pm, said a senior police officer.

Mr Khan was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, the officer said.

Mr Khan's two-year-old grandson was also playing alongside him but wasn't hurt, he said.

"The lanes of the area are quite narrow and it is difficult for vehicles to move the area. While the truck was reversing, Khan was hit. A case has been registered in the matter," said the officer.
