Prem Kumar Mittal jumped in front of a metro train going towards Huda City Centre around 12.55 pm

The elderly man who committed suicide by jumping in front a metro train yesterday was suffering from a brain-related ailment and was depressed due to it, police said today.
"Prem Kumar Mittal, 60, a resident of Himgiri Enclave in Burari in northeast Delhi, was suffering from a brain-related ailment for the past five-six years and was depressed due to it. He was undergoing treatment at AIIMS," a senior Metro Police officer said.
His family got to know about his death through the newspapers in the morning, he said.
Mr Mittal told his family he was feeling "sad and suffocated" and went out for a walk at 10 am yesterday. When he did not return till evening, his family approached Burari police station and filed a missing complaint, the officer said.
He first tried to jump in front of a metro train going towards Jahangirpuri from Huda City Centre on platform number 2 of Civil Lines station but had a narrow escape, said the officer.
He then went to platform number 1 and jumped in front of a metro train going towards Huda City Centre around 12.55 pm.
Mr Mittal is survived by his son, who works with a private company in Faridabad, and a daughter.
