New Delhi:
A retired Indian Air Force sergeant, who sold liquor meant for defence personnel in the open market, has been arrested, police said Saturday.
"Sanjay Kumar Ahuja, 46, was arrested from Janakpuri area of west Delhi Friday during routine checking. A total of 45 liquor bottles and 150 bottles and cans of beer were seized from Ahuja's car," a police official said.
Ahuja earned high profits by offering home delivery to his customers on "dry days" (holidays when liquor shops are closed).
According to police, Ahuja retired in 2004 and soon started the illegal activity of selling liquor, obtained from the Air Force canteen, to his clients on higher rates.
