FIR against AIIMS doctor accused of molesting 8-year-old

FIR against AIIMS doctor accused of molesting 8-year-old
New Delhi: A resident doctor of AIIMS, the country's top medical institute, has been suspended, after a man filed a police complaint accusing him of sexually abusing his eight-year-old son in the duty room last week.

The father has charged the doctor with attempt to sodomy, and intimidation of a minor.

"My wife saw the doctor come out of the duty room with my child. My child can recognise him," said the victim's father.

"We are taking statements from all the doctors and nurses, all those who were present in the ICU that day. The inquiry will come out with a report in the next few days. We will be taking the strictest measures if this turns out to be true," said Y. K. Gupta, Public Relations officer, AIIMS.

The child was admitted to the Neurology Department on January 20 to be operated for brain tumour.

After he was released on January 24, his parents say, he looked scared and threatened. After a week or so, he allegedly told them that he was sexually abused by one of the doctors who operated on him.
