The fire has been doused. Everybody rescued.
The Delhi fire chief said that the evacuation process could have been managed better. He added that the fire department has rescued 125 people from the building. He says this level of rescue operation is unprecedented in the Delhi fire department. Three operations were conducted simultaneously today.

The fire began at about 4.30 pm when the bank was filled with employees.

25 fire engines are trying to put out the flames at a bank in Central Delhi. Fire started on the ground floor and smoke travelled up through the AC duct.

Fire-fighters are rescuing people who were trapped inside the headquarters  of the Punjab National Bank at Delhi's Patel Chowk.   Those who were inside used the fire-fighters' ladders to climb out of windows.

Adjoining buildings have been evacuated.  No casualties have been reported as yet.

A man who was inside said he jumped onto the terrace of a building next door, along with his colleagues, to escape the flames.
