A fire that broke out at a factory in west Delhi area this morning has been brought under control. Twenty one fire engines were rushed to Mundka after the fire was reported in the plywood factory in the area at 5 am.
The fire had also spread to a bulb factory located opposite to it, a Delhi Fire Service official was quoted by news agency PTI as saying. No casualty has been reported so far.
"We received the first fire call at around 5 am. At 6:22 am we declared it a medium category fire. This is a warehouse full of wood logs which led to the fire spreading to other buildings as well however we have controlled it from spreading any further. The fire fighting operations are underway with 21 fire-brigade vehicles on the spot," Fire Officer SS Tulli was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
The incident comes almost a week after the massive fire in an illegal bag-and-paper factory near central Delhi in which 43 people were killed and at least 62 suffered injuries. The fire at Anaj Mandi was the second worst in the national capital after the Uphaar Cinema tragedy that left 59 dead and injured more than 100 people.
