New Delhi: The premiere of controversial religious leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's film MSG-2 created traffic jams across Gurgaon, near Delhi, in the evening rush hour.
Around 50,000 people were expected for the film, which stars the chief of Dera Sacha Sauda - a Haryana-based sect that has lakhs of followers.
On Tuesday, Mr Singh's team had said 3 lakh followers were invited to gather at 1 pm for the premiere, which was to be held in the evening at 6.
The police had issued a traffic advisory, asking people to "minimize the use of individual cars".
Still, since afternoon, Twitter was flooded with messages from frustrated commuters, who were caught in jams that snaked through the arterial roads of Gurgaon.
The movie is being screened at the Leisure Valley Park -- a huge public park in the busy commercial hub of Sector 29 - an area crowded with restaurants and large malls.
The premiere of MSG: Messenger of God (Part 1) in January had been called off abruptly after the police said it had been organised without permission.
As nearly 70,000 people gathered in Gurgaon for the premiere, Mr Singh had arrived on a Harley Davidson to announce that the event was cancelled.
Mr Singh, 48 -- who wrote the script, directed the film, composed its music and sang -- faces murder charges and is recognised for his garish outfits.
