New Delhi:
Five people, including two officials from a private bank, accused of taking loans worth over Rs 2 crore by depositing fake gold biscuits, have been arrested, police said on Monday.
Dyes used for making the fake gold biscuits have also been seized.
Dheeraj Sachdeva, 25, Matloob Saifi, 29, Sandeep Verma, 36, Daljeet Singh, 33 and Charanjeet, 56, were arrested from near the DDA Sports Complex in Dwarka Sector-11 in west Delhi.
Sachdeva and Saifi worked in the Muthoot Fin Corp, Charanjeet is a dye-maker and Singh a goldsmith.
The company had filed a complaint earlier this month claiming that three customers had deposited fake gold to avail loan.
Sachdeva and Saifi selected the bank branches from where the loan was to be taken. When Verma visited the branch with fake gold bars, the loan was approved easily.
They took loans from bank branches in Najafgarh, Darya Ganj, Karol Bagh, Patel Nagar, Dwarka and Bhajanpura.
