New Delhi: A five-year-old girl was raped several times by her neighbour who abducted her and kept her hostage inside his flat in east Delhi for two days, according to police.
The girl was abducted from outside her house in Gandhi Nagar on April 15 and was raped repeatedly, police said.
She was finally rescued when her family members claimed that they heard her screams emanating from the accused's flat on Wednesday evening, police said.
The accused - in his 30s - lived on the ground floor of the building in Gandhi Nagar in which the victim also stayed, police said, refusing to give any more details about him.
"The girl was in an unconscious condition when she was rescued from the flat. The accused managed to escape," said a police officer.
The child is currently in the intensive care unit of a hospital and her condition is said to be critical.
Meanwhile, a case of rape and attempt to murder has been registered against the accused.
