New Delhi: A teenage car thief having a "fascination" for Honda City cars which he used for joy ride as well as for sleeping at night has been arrested and six stolen cars recovered from him, police said today.
Nineteen-year-old Amrit Singh alias Don who was caught by a police team from his house at Raghubarpura in Gandhi Nagar area of east Delhi yesterday, was already booked in 16 cases of stealing cars, said Rishi Pal, DCP (east).
Amrit Singh surprised cops during interrogation disclosing his love for Honda City cars as he enjoyed joy rides as well as strong air-conditioner of the car for sleeping at night.
Six stolen Honda City cars and one scooty have been recovered from him. Investigation of the case is on, Mr Pal said.
Police got wind of Amrit Singh after it got down to curb the menace of stolen car cases in east Delhi.
Screening CCTV camera footage in connection with different complaints of auto theft provided leads in identifying active auto lifters in the area, said the officer.
Later, a specific input was received about Amrit Singh and he was caught by the police.
