New Delhi: A car free day, an initiative by the Delhi Government to check rising air pollution, was observed in a part of the city today, making it the fourth such event.
The car free day was observed from the Vishwavidyalaya's Gate Number 3 to Chhatrasal Stadium red light, a 6 km stretch in north Delhi.
Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai said: "Next car free day will be organised in south Delhi. We are taking every initiative to bring down the air pollution level in the city through such initiatives."
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia led a cycle rally along with the teachers and students of the Delhi University.
