New Delhi: The Delhi government has approved Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung's sanction to prosecute former Law Minister Somnath Bharti in the Khirki Extension raid case.
"The home department has approved LG's sanction to prosecute Bharti in the Khirki Extension raid case," an official told IANS on the condition of anonymity.
In August, Jung issued a sanction to prosecute Mr Bharti in connection with his alleged misbehaviour with African women during the January 2014 midnight raid in south Delhi's Khirki extension.
However, Home Minister Satyendra Jain had opposed the sanction at that time.
Mr Bharti was also named in an FIR filed at Dwarka North police station following the June 10 complaint by his wife that he had abused her since their marriage in 2010.
She claimed that Mr Bharti used to beat and torture her.
