After returning to India from the US, Lieutenant Governor Tejinder Khanna spoke on the measures being taken to increase safety of women in the national capital:

- Police personnel will also be trained
- Action will be taken against any cop who disrespects women
Zero tolerance on misbehaviour or misdemeanour - Keep some volunteers from women's groups along with plain clothes police men on buses - this is a suggestion which has been given to us by women's groups
- Female volunteer force - Members of NGOs to be part of this - Suggestion received today in the meeting
- Public transport drivers to wear photo ID badges
- So far, there was no background check on drivers
- Photo ID will be incorporated with the badges
- I am meeting students' groups today. They have an open invitation from my side.
- Commissioner of Delhi Police has expressed regret
- If excessive force was used during the protests, the enquiry is on
- I appeal to the people to keep calm
- I would like to tell you all that coming back to the country was a decision I took when I saw what was happening in Delhi
