In Fit Of Rage Father Allegedly Shoots Son Over Upturned Slipper

An elderly man allegedly shot his son dead over a heated argument about an upturned slipper.

New Delhi: An elderly man shot dead his son in New Delhi on Friday afternoon following a heated argument between them after the former attacked and injured his daughter-in-law over a small issue, police said.

The incident was reported around 1.25 pm from east Delhi's Mandawali area. 

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rishipal told IANS that Ganesh Parshad, 68, opened fire on hisson Mahendra Shukla, 30 following the argument. 

The bullet pierced the chest of Shukla who was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead while the father has been booked under charges of murder, the officer said. 

Another officer, close to the investigation of the case, told IANS that the whole issue enraged after Mr Parshad and his daughter-in-law engaged in an argument over some issue which was later joined by Mr Shukla.

Mr Shukla's wife, in her statement to police, said that her father-in-law saw a slipper lying upturned on the gate when he was having his lunch and "started abusing" her over the issue and attacked on her head with a wooden stick when she protested. 

Meanwhile, Mr Shukla reached home to have lunch and asked his father why he had attacked his wife leaving her with grievous injury on the head.

"A heated argument ensued among my father-in-law and my husband over the issue. My father-in-law took out a pistol and shot him (my husband) in his chest leaving him lying on the floor. Neighbours helped me to take his body to the hospital," the woman said.
