New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's 'Amma Canteen' that sells idlis at Re one is here in Delhi, but only for three days.
The food stall has been opened at the Tamil Nadu Bhavan as part of Pongal celebrations and will serve South Indian food - idlis at Re one and lemon-rice and sambhar-rice at Rs 5 - till January 14.
Shortly after its inauguration today, scores of people lined up to taste the food at the budget kitchen.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister launched these kitchens, run entirely by women's self-help groups, in Chennai, to provide nutritious food at an affordable price for the poor.
200 such canteens across Tamil Nadu serve nearly 1,60,000 people a day and have won the Chief Minister many fans.
