New Delhi: After Congress, the lone Janata Dal United or JDU legislator in Delhi's 70-member Assembly has offered unconditional support to the Aam Aadmi Party to form government.
Shoaib Iqbal, newly-elected legislator from Matia Mahal in Old Delhi area, has written to Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung offering his support to the Arvind Kejriwal-led party.
Mr Kejriwal, who led the one-year-old party in a stunning debut winning 28 seats in the recent elections, has reached the residence of Lt Governor Jung, who is expected to ask Mr Kejriwal to try and form the government.
Sources in the AAP say the party is expected to make a formal statement after the meeting.
Yesterday, the Congress, decimated to a third position with eight seats, offered unconditional support to the AAP.
The largest party, the BJP with 31 seats, has declined to claim any stake to forming the government in Delhi.
