New Delhi: A jeweller was shot at allegedly by unidentified armed persons after he resisted their robbery bid at his jewellery shop in Rohini area of outer Delhi on Friday afternoon.
58-year-old Vinod Malhotra suffered bullet injury in his leg, according to police.
Mr Malhotra has a jewellery shop Sandeep Jewelers at Sector 16, G-6 block in Rohini.
"The incident took place in the afternoon when Mr Malhotra was in his shop along with his employees. Three persons on a black motorcycles arrived at his shop. Two of them, who were wearing helmets fired two bullets in the air to threaten him," said a police official.
When the duo tried to rob the shop on gunpoint, Mr Malhotra raised an alarm following which the assailants fired at him and fled, he said.
Hearing the gunshot a large number of people gathered at the spot and a PCR call was made.
Mr Malhotra was rushed to Ambedkar hospital, where doctors stated his condition as stable.
A case has been registered at KN Katju Marg police station against the unknown assailants and a manhunt has been initiated to nab them, police said.
Investigators are analysing the CCTV footages of the shop to identify the robbers. Several locals and employees of shop are also being questioned to get some lead in this regard, police said.
