New Delhi: A court in New Delhi today extended the police custody of former Delhi law minister Jitender Singh Tomar for two days in the fake degree case.
Delhi Police sought Mr Tomar's custody to confront him with Madan Pratap Chauhan, a man being interrogated in the case and some officials of the law college from where he claimed to have obtained his degree.
Police also told court that Mr Tomar was yet to reply to various questions put to him regarding the case.
Metropolitan Magistrate Navjeet Budhiraja extended his police custody and allowed Delhi Police to quiz Mr Tomar till June 21.
Delhi Police arrested Mr Tomar on June 9 and slapped a case of cheating, forgery and conspiracy against him.
Police told court that a questionnaire containing over 200 questions were supplied to the Mr Tomar.
He has replied to various questions but answers to some are still incomplete.
Mr Tomar's answers would help in getting a final conclusion of the investigation, police added.
Mr Tomar's counsel opposed the police plea, saying there is no requirement of further police custody as police have already kept him under custody for 10 days.
The case is based on documentary evidence, counsel added.
