New Delhi: In a major crackdown against drink driving in the national capital, the Aam Aadmi Party government has suspended driving licenses of over 1,000 people for one year for driving in an inebriated state.
The Government has also cancelled 29 driving licenses taking drink driving as a "serious offense"
According to a government official, these drivers have committed an act which endangers safety of public on the city roads due to which their licenses were suspended for one year.
The official also said that the habitual tendency of drunk driving on the part of these offenders may lead to traffic accidents in future endangering their own lives and that of other road users, adding that drunk driving is being treated as a "serious offense".
Till October last year, government had also suspended 810 licenses for driving vehicles under influence of alcohol.
