New Delhi: A young couple attempted suicide after their parents disapproved of their relationship, police said Thursday. Both are in hospital in a critical condition.
Kushum, 18, and Ravi Kumar, 26, were having an affair since the past two years, but the girl was being forced to get married to another man in May, said Deputy Commissioner of Police O.P. Mishra.
"Kushum drank acid after a heated argument with her parents. She attempted suicide at her home in Kondli area in east Delhi Thursday morning", he said.
Both were taken to Lal Bahadur Hospital, where doctors said their condition is critical.
