New Delhi:
Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung today wished Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on his birthday and also sent him a bouquet of flowers.
"Lt Governor spoke to CM Kejriwal over the phone and wished him on his birthday in the morning," a senior official from the LG's office said.
There has been a bitter confrontation between Mr Jung and Mr Kejriwal over several issues, including notification over hiking circle rates for agriculture land and transfer and postings of senior bureaucrats.
Earlier this week, Mr Jung had sent back the AAP government's notification over increasing the circle rate for agriculture land even as Mr Kejriwal directed his officials not to follow the Lt Governor's direction on the issue.
The AAP government also refused to accept Mr Jung's stay on its notification. Later, the Lt Governor had returned the file on the matter citing "inherent inconsistencies" and sought a fresh notification.
Besides, Mr Jung had last month declared AAP leader Ms Swati Maliwal's appointment as Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief as null and void, saying it did not have legal sanctity and was in violation of constitutional provisions.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi too took to Twitter to wish Mr Kejriwal and the Delhi Chief Minister immediately responded with thanks and desired to meet him to discuss the situation in the National Capital.
