A man allegedly murdered his 65-year-old father in Kanjhawala area in Delhi by hitting him with a spade after he refused to give his son money to buy liquor.
35-year-old Krishan Gupta was arrested from the spot at about 11 pm on Thursday.
"Satya Prakash lived in the area along with his wife Gaytri and son Krishan, who was unemployed and alcoholic. He used to often demand money for liquor and had arguments with his father over the issue," said a police official.
On Thursday night, Krishan demanded money from Satya Prakash. His father got agitated at him for being addicted to liquor. In a fit of rage, Krishan picked up a spade and hit his father on his head. He died on the spot.
Hearing the commotion, Gayatri rushed to the spot and saw her husband lying dead in a pool of blood.
Krishan tried to run away but Gaytri shouted for help and he was nabbed by the neighbours who called the police handed him over to them.
"We arrested Krishan and lodged an FIR against him. He has confessed to his involvement in the crime. Spade used in the crime has also been recovered from the spot," the official said.
