A 28-year-old man was strangled to death allegedly by his friend.
New Delhi:
A 28-year-old man was strangled to death allegedly by his friend after an altercation while they were having liquor together in southwest Delhi's Baba Hari Dass Nagar in New Delhi, police said on Wednesday.
The deceased, identified as Sumit Sharma (24), was strangled allegedly by Naresh with a piece of cloth used for turbans and later his neck was pressed with a big stone until he died on the intervening night of December 5 and 6, said a senior police officer.
Naresh was arrested on Tuesday evening from his sister's house in Chhawla village in southwest Delhi, he added. According to police, Mr Sumit had gone out with his three friends to have liquor on December 5 and the next day, his body was found lying in a vacant plot.
Mr Sumit was last seen roaming with his three friends Naresh, Lavish and Suresh on December 5, police said.
When they were having liquor, an argument broke out between Naresh and Mr Sumit over the mention of some person, said the officer.
"Naresh lost his temper and he allegedly murdered Mr Sumit in a brutal way. The accused has three cases of murders pending against him," he added.
The accused allegedly smashed Mr Sumit's face with a stone so that he couldn't be identified.
Police is also questioning Mr Lavish and Mr Suresh to ascertain their involvement.
