A man was arrested at the Delhi airport today for allegedly trying to smuggle gold valued at about Rs 1 crore from Dubai.
The custom officials intercepted the man after a tip off from the Delhi police. On detailed examination, he was allegedly found carrying 500 gold coins weighing 3.9 kg, a senior customs official said. The value of the seized gold is assessed at Rs 99.17 lakh, he said.
The accused, an engineer, has been arrested and further investigation is on, the official said.
