New Delhi:
A young man was arrested for allegedly killing his cousin's wife after she scolded him for indulging in celebratory firing during a family function in south-west Delhi, police said on Sunday.
Anil Dagar was apprehended from near Dhansa Stand in Najafgarh last night on a tip off, Sharad Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West), said.
Dagar, a commission agent in Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, allegedly shot dead his cousin Sunil Dahiya's wife Amita on December 17 during a function held at a relative's house.
"He was scolded by Amita when he was taking out his weapon for firing during the ceremony. He felt insulted in front of the relatives. Later he went inside the room where she was sitting and took out the weapon and shot her from close range," Aggarwal said.
The incident occurred in the house of Rajesh Kadyan, who is Amita's brother.
According to Kadyan's wife Sarita, Dagar came to her room and told her that the function had been well organised.
"Meanwhile, he took out a pistol and put it on Amita's temple and told her to leave for home.
"Then we heard a shot and Amita fell down on the floor. She was immediately rushed to hospital where she was declared brought dead," Aggarwal said.
