New Delhi:
A man has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country about 2.4 kg gold, worth about Rs 73 lakh, at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in New Delhi.
The accused was intercepted by the Customs officials on his arrival at the Delhi airport last week. He was allegedly found carrying gold weighing about 2.4 kg, said a press release issued today by the Customs.
"The said gold bars have been smuggled by the passenger from Dubai, concealed by him under the seat on Dubai-Mumbai flight of Air India, which he retrieved during the Mumbai-Delhi flight of the same aeroplane," it said.
The gold bars, valuing Rs 72.57 lakh, have been seized and the passenger has been arrested, the release said.
