A 24-year-old man riding a motorcycle without a helmet was killed on Monday after his bike collided with a car in southeast Delhi's Pul Prahladpur area in New Delhi, police said.
Maqsood Ali was on his way to his residence at Lal Kuan in Prahladpur from Sangam Vihar around 7 AM when the incident took place.
Maqsood had jumped a red light when his bike collided with Bhiwan Singh's car, said a senior police officer, adding that even though Maqsood's family members are claiming that he had taken a helmet with him, no helmet was recovered from the spot.
The man sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to ESI Hospital by locals where he was declared brought dead, the officer said. Singh was arrested from the spot.
A case under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304(A)(causing death by negligence) was registered against Singh.
